Windows ICS is set up to foreward :22, :80, and a whole slew of other ports (which don't matter right now) to my box. :22 works. :80 doesn't. Help.

You might be right about that, Joe.

Your ISP probably filters port 80 (if you mean people can't see port 80) so that is your problem: a shitty ISP.

What are you hosting a web server on dial-up for anyhow?

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Additionally, I've found that some ISP's (whether it's intentional or not) prevent loopbacks using a public IP-address.

I can't access my webserver unless I:

#1.)  Use the server's private IP address
#2.)  Add an entry in my hosts file redefining my public IP address as my server's private IP.

I have that issue too. I can't reach http://impaler.x86labs.org:6113, but can reach http://localhost:6113

Now that impaler is this box, I can reach it just fine. ;)

Yeah.  It's kind of annoying, actually.  I guess it kind of makes sense though.  :p

Joe

I've hosted Apache before with the same ISP. Thats not the problem. ICS simply refuses to forward it.

I thought of an idea last night though. Anyone know any pass-through proxies?

That's typically a result of your router, not your ISP.  They call it "anti-spoofing" -- if a packet arrives showing its own external address as the source address, it drops it.

Joe

MS ICS is the only 'router' I have, so I doubt it has that sort of security on it. =p

But yeah, know any passthrough proxies I could try out?
