He's huge, you're not ( Dunno about you, but from Zero's perspective ). He has a trashcan lid, you're not.

Seriously though, it's pretty fucked up. I'd probably have tried to break it up, depending on how bad the situation was. But I definitely wouldn't have taken a picture and showed everybody and laughed about it. Furthermore it's pretty whack that you're the reason your friend got beat up, and you think it's funny.
