Permutation is something you do with discrete mathematics, ie sets... factorials are (primarily) used in statistics.  I'm not sure how you'd confuse them. ;)

The formula for the number of permutations a set has involves factorials.  I know that in school we learned about factorials/permutations/combinations together, so it's easy to mix them up if you don't use them.

Going out to eat Jap food with teh family. I now have $85 in cash, ten owed from the parents (I forwarded (endorsed, whatever) two of my checks to them, so they gave me cash and ran out) and apparently more in the mail, so purchase of a low-end laptop is imminent. :)

Oh, yeah, but I still don't think I could mix them up. :)
