Pretty crazy that we're closer to 2030, than we are 2005. Where did the time go!

Quotei'm is a new initiative from Windows Live Messenger. Every time you start a conversation using i'm, Microsoft shares a portion of the program's advertising revenue with some of the world's most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We've set no cap on the amount we'll donate to each organization. The sky's the limit.

So any time you have an i'm conversation using Windows Live Messenger, you help address the issues you feel most passionate about, including poverty, child protection, disease, and environmental degradation. It's simple. All you have to do is join and start an instant messaging conversation. We'll handle the donation.

There's no charge, so join now and put our money where your mouth is.

Straight from Facebook. I have to go to sleep so I can't verify this with other sites right now...

But damn, now I feel compelled to use Windows Live Messenger when I go on Windows (which I've been doing like half the time lately...) so long as there is a multiprotocol client for it.

Sounds like crap to me. Especially because they spelled "IM" wrong. Ha!

But even if it's true, it doesn't change the fact that MS is evil and makes money in dirty ways. Donating to charity doesn't suddenly make a company (or person) good.
