I made some very clear (I think) notes on the NLS (war3) login, containing definitions of the packets, algorithms, and sample code.  It should be more than enough to port it to any language, and can be found here:

Me and Warrior are working on a C version (a DLL) which  should be around by the end of the week for all you VB'ers.
