Where Is Darkside Now?

For awhile, I had darkside's bits (motherboard, cpu, power supply, ram, nic) in a drawer, hooked up so if I ever needed to test something I could easily plug in a harddrive and away I go.  Last week my aunt's harddrive was dying, so I hooked up her harddrive and a CDRom with Knoppix so I could get her files off when the OS wouldn't boot.

Sadly, I changed bedrooms (more on that later), and now I have no internet connection near my desk (just wireless for my laptops).

So I figured I needed a computer that I could store in my bedroom, but easily truck around if I have to test stuff.  After minutes of deliberation, I pulled out a shoe-box which I thought was a new and unique idea.  Sadly, according to Blaze, it's a common thing to do.  But whatever, I still like it.

I actually mounted the motherboard on the lid using pointy screws.  I am going to put glue over them to help hold, plus keep myself from getting poked.  I mounted the power-supply with 3 normal case-screws.

Anyways, without further ado, here's some pictures of darkside, now built within a Wal-Mart shoe box:

And what the hell, it's my site.... here's the images:

I believe Arta started it.

Didn't Darkside actually have a case? What happened to it?

EDIT -

I realize this doesn't work well for portability, but for a while I had a box named Slackoff, consisting of several computer pieces sprawled across my desk in my other room, with no case. Of course, calling it a box is a misnomer, but eh. :)

You might be right about that, Joe.

He by far did not "start" it.  He did do it before iago, though.  :)

I told him I'd been seeing a lot of things like this lately (in the past couple years).

Yeah, Arta did it before me, but I didn't know that so it doesn't count.

Also, he seems to have done it for a different purpose.  Mine is 100% for portability.

Haha, case are too heavy for what I need.  The only worry I would have is that it's a bit of a fire-hazard.  But only a bit.

And yeah, I mounted it to the top with some pointy screws that I don't know where they came from.  Tiny flange-screws (ie, normal case screws) and nuts would have been ideal, but I don't have any tiny nuts.

(go ahead, make a joke about me not having small nuts)
