On the Ethics of Hunting

...where hunting for amusement means that you kill the animal, don't eat the animal afterwards, and don't make complete use of it.

I agree that it is wrong.  Morally, you should not kill anything if you're not going to use its corpse for something (I.E. food).  With that said, I kill insects on a regular basis, and often kill golfers with no intentions of using any part of them.  When I go hunting-hunting, like in the woods, I also hunt just for the sport.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

"LET'S GO KILL STUFF!" is acceptable?  Bull.  Replace "stuff" with "people" and you've got Manson.  And don't give me that crap about "o but the coyotes...", if some black guy kills somebody in New York does that make it acceptable to go kill some black guy in California?  No.

Completely agreed. The only thing that makes it acceptable is the black color of their black skin. It's completely unacceptable to kill a white guy or any other living being, though.

Well, granted I already voted before reading your post ... I do want to change my answer (I put morally wrong).

I think it's ok if hunting is fun, why do it otherwise if you can get the result otherwise?  Hunt + good purpose = fun and good

I think you should eat your catch, or kill out of necessity (ie coyote eating farm animals)

Quote
Samuel 17:34-35: "And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him."

The Bible also says that the man who doesn't hunt for food is slothful. I don't see the connection, but it is what it is.

I've killed a number of pesty things.  Snakes, gophers, bugs ... all different.
One time we found my dog gnawing on a gopher, couldn't find the head, guess she ate it ... stupid dog, ha.  Usually we just shoot 'em with a BB gun, kick 'em, accidentally mow over them (that's not pretty on the riding mower) ... they tear up stuff real nasty like.
