Tomorrow morning I'm leaving for Riding Mountain National Park, and will be gone till late on Saturday.

That is all.

It's a national park. :P

Google it for more info.

But but but.....who will be iago while you're gone?

Warrior

I will take over his day-to-day responsibilities.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Go ahead, my day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Nothing

See to it!

Warrior

ok, just give me leader permissions and we'll be set

Nah, completely unnecessary. Just sit around and don't do anything and you'll be fine.

Warrior

but not having leader permissions kills the immersion

Back!

Pictures/most of the interesting stories (in captions), plus an awesome picture of me:

For reference, this is the area we were in, make sure you're on satellite because the map is totally wrong (misplaces the lake!)

Main events:
Thursday
- Woke up early, had breakfast out, left town by 8:30
- Arrived in Wasagaming (on the South side of Clear Lake) at about 11, checked into the hotel, had some food on the patio
- Left about 1pm, went for a bike ride over a swamp to the west (where we shouldn't have been biking, but didn't realize till afterwards)
- Biked down to the beach to check it out, it was unexciting
- Biked down another path, east of the town. Had a hell of a time finding it, but eh? It went down around the east side of the lake, to the "wishing well" and golf course. Then we rode back along a slightly different trail.
- Parked our bikes, went for a walk across the town. Talked to the park rangers and bought the "trail guide" for $25, so we could actually find trails
- Went golfing at Clear Lake Golf Course. Did 13 holes, then packed it in. We didn't keep score, but I didn't play well (it's been years, I was just out there for fun :) )

Friday
- It was rainy and crappy all day
- Drove throughout the park to see where other trails are
- Saw two smallish bears, a female moose with her baby, a couple dear
- Drove through the Bison enclosure, saw a couple herds of bison
- Went back to the hotel (after a few hours)
- Took our bikes out around town, a bit, got soaked
- Drove down another road, to the east, checked out some campgrounds and trails (for future reference)

Saturday
- Cleaned up, checked out of the hotel
- Drove to the trails around the "escarpment", which is the east side of the park
- Did one trail, about 6km each way (uphill on the way there, down on the way back), visiting the highest point in the park
- Picked two woodticks off my leg, hit the road
- Went the long way home (east, across Lake Manitoba's narrows), and stopped at Dad's cottage for an hour to cut the grass
- Came home, and here we are!

So yeah, that was my exciting adventure. The pictures sort of go along with that. :)

wtf kind of sign is that?  so colorful and cartoony?!

iago

The tour is frequently done by school children. It's a sign for them.
