Helmet
« on: May 07, 2005, 03:12:53 am »
As much as I hate it, I figured that, if I'm going to be riding my bike in traffic to/from work, I'd better buy a helmet.  I found a dark-blue one which doesn't look too bad and that fits well (my head is too big for most :))

My work is about a 75 minute bike ride, each way.  And it's down a busy street at rush hour.  I'd rather be safe than get injured, even if it looks silly :P

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I usually take the bus, which has a lot of advantages:
- Lots of chicks on the bus
- I get time to read
- I get time to relax
- It's cheap

Problems with using a car:
- Parking downtown is very expensive
- Gas is very expensive ($4/gallon)
- Buying a car is expensive

Advantages of riding a bike:
- Exercise is good, I need it

- It'll be faster
- Won't have to mow the lawn
- Don't really have to be worried about someone stealing it
- You can wear a cowboy hat instead

- I get time to relax
- It's cheap
- You obviously don't get out much
- You can read all the road signs/bill boards/shop signs you want then you drive
- Cars/motorcycles have more comfortable seats
- It's smelly

Problems with using a car:
- Parking downtown is very expensive
- Gas is very expensive ($4/gallon)
- Buying a car is expensive
- *cough*bullshit*cough* Get a company spot
- For $19/hour you should be able to afford gas
- Get a used car!

Advantages of riding a bike:
- Exercise is good, I need it
- Okay, you got me there...

This argument is dumb, but ohwell

- You obviously don't get out much
- You can read all the road signs/bill boards/shop signs you want then you drive
- Cars/motorcycles have more comfortable seats
- It's smelly
- shush
- I read a book
- No they don't, they're at least as comfortable
- No they don't, not here anyway

- *cough*bullshit*cough* Get a company spot
- For $19/hour you should be able to afford gas
- Get a used car!
- This is downtown in a pretty big city, they don't have company spots.  Only one guy at work drives, and he pays a ton for his spot.  Everybody else bikes/busses.
- Just because I make money doesn't mean I should waste it
- No, I'm not going through that again.  I spent way too much money fixing my old car.

In Boston we have a good bus system.  Get a moto-scooter for like 400 bucks.  And they hold about 1 gallon of gas and are about 100 miles to the gallon.
