There are still taxes, yeah, but I think the way it works as, after a certain amount of time you're declared legally dead and that stuff is passed onto your kids. I'm guessing. *shrug*

Not in the US, police would find her.  If she's poor she's delinquent on bills and they'd come to arrest her.  If she's black she probably has anywhere between 3 and 56.7 children on welfare and those social workers would find her.  etc.
