Apparently Greater Tokyo (which means the city proper and continuous urban areas), according to a UN survey of 2007, has a population of 35,676,000.
All of Canada, according to an estimate from 2008, puts the population at 33,212,696.

What's your point?

There are a lot of states that have greater populations than Canada, too. Canada's one of the least dense places in the world, and we like it that way. :)

Hmm, apparently I "misunderestimated" the population of states.

New York has about 20mil and Texas has about 25mil. I'd call both of them close to Canada's 33mil.
