How many dead Babylonian little ones does it take to paint a stone?

One of my professors suggested I look into starting a mutual fund. I'm considering it.

I've got an idea. Why don't you mutually fund your own ticket back to Africa.

That's the idea.

Thank Zeus! Only one more graduate school visit to go. UT Austin this week, and then I'll hopefully have my mind made up on where I'll be for the next 5 years.
errr... something like that...

I blogged about user incompetency. There's not too much technical stuff to this one, but having someone here read it over and check for factual accuracy would be neat. :)

EDIT -
Also, apparently now is as good a time as any to let you guys know I'm planning on applying to Navy ROTC at the end of the school year. Then I get to be an awesome midshipman like Towelie. :)

That's.... interesting. Is it for the money? Job security? Benefits? All of the above?

All of the above. Plus after leaving the fleet, "8 years active duty as a US Navy Officer" looks damn good on a resume.

gl.

Btw, you need to be in some sort of shape too if you want to get in

Joe

I think it's 60 situps in 2 minutes and running 1.5 miles in 11 minutes. That won't be too hard. I'll obviously have to stop eating.. basically everything I eat, but I can get there by the end of summer.

10:30 1.5 mile for us. 60 situps sounds right... might be 45 pushups. I only know that its 101 max for pushup and situps for us :P The run, on the other hand, I'm concerned with minimum times. You also have to be within height and weight standards (not sure if this is a problem for you)

Joe

I'm 5'11 210lbs. According to the BMI I'm in the middle of overweight. I intend to correct that this summer, or at least transfer that weight to different locations. :)

And of course USNA is expected to exceed NROTC.

IIRC, only Marine Option needs pushups, but I could be mistaken.

All things considered, if you get a useful degree in addition to a respectable active duty record, you pretty much have 100% job security in the private sector as a defense contractor.
