It's been a long time since this clan was active. What's everyone up to now?
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

Recovering from a breakup.

WHAT!

Minecraft!

Agreed.

I did a binge on Minecraft (I'm still running a server with BuildCraft), and am currently playing WoW / GW2.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

Yeah. It's not been super pleasant. It needed to happen, though.

I'm playing on a heavily modded server a coworker's running. I just finished a fusion reactor and an orbital mining platform :)

Galacticraft? I never managed to get that running, but I was playing 1.6.4. Apparently 1.6.2 was more compatible.

Oh, did you know that HdxBmx27 (or whatever his nick was) wrote Forge? Small world.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I don't think so. They're just MFR mining lasers/prechargers. The fusion reactor is from gregtech.

I should post some screenshots. :)

Woaaah! That's really awesome. Small world indeed.

Work driving, work, drive more, drive more, then work, got into woodworking enough to convert a shop and I'm currently making custom tabletop game tables (early development for the future man cave).  Moved over to Pathfinder system, love every minute of it. I still manage to sling dice a couple times a month which is all my schedule allows me for. I also own a Corgi now. So I guess things are going pretty well. Glad to still see familiar faces around here.

Wow, I'm surprised!  I didn't think you would leave Canada, or work at a huge monopoly corporation. It's probably a nice place to work though.

Explain?

Gentrification, rising housing costs, tech workers causing ordinary people to be evicted, blahblahblah.

People in San Francisco and Oakland are pissed off at tech workers, and have been protesting and stuff. They call tech companies worthless, but they use twitter to organize, and google maps for visualizations, and have @gmail.com email addresses on their signs. Clearly, tech companies are helpful! :)

I have friends that went through that fun storm. Not for me. That said, today's high was 65 in my town. I'm not so fond of winter ending/spring beginning before the middle of January.

well, I'm now VP of the local Chamber of Commerce.

my ascent to the upper echelon of Deming, NM politics will be swift. Our state sen retires soon (likely, cause he is old as dirt). I need to meet with him some day and just chill. For a (D), he makes a lot of D.C. (R)s looks like hippie communist bitches. That said, he has the respect to command reasonableness instead caving to teacher unions and oil companies. I'm kind of considering how I want to run in local elections. I'm an R, but I dont agree with all the platform. I'd be a D, but I dont agree with all the platform. Poltics...pfft.

And this is the inherent problem with our polarized political environment. Without being an R or D you won't get second glance by most voters in most districts. And yet, if you are one and "cave" to the opposing viewpoint if you agree with it, you're going to be tough to recommend on the same platform.

Happy to see the forum has yet to vanish (kudos iago). This community has come up for me a few times in conversation with people I'm close to, and I generally refer to it as a "modern day gentleman's club of intellectuals." Basically calling all you dudes gentlemen and scholars, so cheers to being awesome. :)

on-topic: same ol' shit for me, just a pube more grand. Living up in North Hollywood now, no roommate. Still hitting Europe yearly with the band, expanding out into Finland and Sweden. I budgeted and produced a new music video with this super talented 19 year old director from Germany. Been jamming with many talented musicians, one being the lead guitarist from CKY - some really cool shit coming out of that. It ain't easy, but I'm thrilled with how I spend my time, and I've got solid momentum going for the bigger and better.

The server it's running on has been sketchy lately. I've had 3 or 4 periods of downtime in the last month, I can usually get it back up first thing in the morning (Pacific time), but weekends are harder.

I'm not.  I'm pretty sure I'm out of a job but my boss won't pick up when I call to confirm.  So I have no idea what's going on.  He also moved offices without letting me know (to a different floor in the building) and also apparently used my laptop as a coaster.

So anyway, anyone have a Software Engineer position they need filled?

http://liveramp.com/careers. We were just acquired by Acxiom, but by all accounts we're going to remain pretty autonomous for the time being. Lots of hadoop/big data stuff (yes, Ron, we know you forgot how to count as low as petabytes).

I also have quite a few friends at Square. One of them runs one of the data analytics teams.

I like nonsense.

So, you're in the big data machine learning business... I'm guessing you're training deep networks. ;)

Heh, the recruiting people seem to be attached to including the same nonsense lingo everyone else in the valley uses. It bothers me. While the verbiage is trite, I feel pretty strongly that the part you quoted is true about the work environment. "Energetic" might be a stretch, but energetic people exhaust me anyway.

I interact pretty minimally with the machine learning part of what we do by choice. The product people in our company put more time pressure on these things because there's the most room for improvement. While that part is pretty appealing to me, I value my time outside work too much to get involved with it.
