I'd greatly appreciate if you didn't delete/move this topic, and I'd appreciate it even more if somebody bought it! I could possibly cut you a deal if someone from here were to buy it.

The full description is in the auction, but I'll give a brief one. It's an antique E. Howard pocket watch from 1883. It's 18k yellow gold and has 15 jewels inside. The gold+jewels are worth about $2400+ when you factor in the current price of gold. It's a very beautiful watch, and although I doubt anyone here (except maybe the adults) would be interested, maybe your parents or grandparents would be. I figured it couldn't hurt to post it.

Talk to me in about 500 years, I'll see what I can save up. =)

Sorry iago, you've been outbid by MyndFyre and some guy on eBay! :P

CrAz3D

You sure that thing is totally legit?
How long has it been listed?

I just tried $150, someone beat me already so I upped to $170, how gay

CrAz3D

Ok, seriously, what is the reserve, I'm at $350 & I still don't have the reserve met...just let me know the reserve, then I'll decide how far I want to take this

The reserve is $2700, you can keep bidding it up though if you want. You won't be required by eBay to buy it unless it goes over the reserve. :)

Edit:

Haha:

oops? ;)

So how did you friend get ahold of a $2400 watch?  & Since you said it was worth $2400, should the reserve be like $2300 or so...no one ever pays what it is actually worth on eBay, unless bidding pushes it up

trust

nono, the gold+jewels are worth somewhere around or over $2400. You've got to factor in the actual watch working itself, the antique value, etc. It's more for a collector.

It's my moms bosses, he collects watches. He's got watches worth around $15,000. He said in a couple of years I could sell that one too. Right now he's just trying to get rid of some of his collection, since he's really only after this one particular watch. I get 10% of the sales, and if I sell this one he has other ones I can sell.

Sounds like quite the deal you're in! I like your auction page too. Looks professional. :)

Sort of. He said that I could use this money to pay for my Italy trip (that my parents were paying for) - so it's not just like pocket money. Maybe my mother will let me just keep it as spending money FOR Italy or something. :\

Thanks @ professional-looking comment.

It's amazing how fast the bids go up on eBay sometimes... like that ass apple. That appalled me. Someone bought a misshaped fruit for several hundred dollars...
