Detective Jones discovered Sandy lying on her side in a puddle of water and broken glass. Jones instantly realized she was dead. Since Sandy had no cuts on her body, how did she die?

Sandy is a goldfish. She was in her bowl thing when someone accidently dropped her. They left here there and with the lack of water to get oxygen from, she died.
