CO2 is Carbon Dioxide, true.  However -- Co2 is not, if you want to get technical.

Yeah, but I don't think you'd find Co2, at least, not commonly.  Cobalt Chloride comes to mind as a normal compound, but that's CoCl2.  Given that cobalt in its normal state has 2 electrons in its outer shell, moving to 4 (having 2 cobolt ions together) would lend instability to the cobalt particle.

Quik, what did you edit?
Co2 isn't what he wrote though, he wrote Co2, which could indicate Co2, CO2, or Co2 , with the 2 representing a 2+ charge, and assuming that he meant Co2+ is much more reasonable than assuming he meant Co2. But all in all, he probably meant CO2.

Arguing this is quite useless.

Actually Darkness, it IS what he wrote (see the quote of me that you quoted me quoting him) but he was making a point to be specific about CO2 versus Co2, so shouldn't his subscripts and superscripts be subjected to the same scrutiny he's giving to capitalization?

Carbon dioxide kay? One carbon, two oxygen. The explosive stuff.

That's not an explosion.  That's a rocket. Explosions happen when stuff has nowhere to go.  A hole is a place to go.

[edit]
Okay.  I'm sorry.  That doesn't sound right.

That would have been Trust's doing. :)

I'm just going to blame everything on Trust from now on, this is going to be fun.

That's because it's under extreme pressures, not because it is explosive.  Almost any other gas under the same conditions would produce the same effect.

Too true -- we use CO2 for paintball guns too.  It's not explosive, but it is stored at high pressure, so in an attempt to reach equilibrium, a lot of high-pressure air moves towards the low-pressure air outside quickly, which causes the paintball to be shot.

That's a rather scientific explination of "OMG OW YOU HIT ME IN THE NUTS YOU ASSHOLE." ;p
