Well, it may suck, but at least it allows you to get things done.  It is used at a business level and thats good enough for me.  Although everything is Java now... :)

I'd say that the C Family is the way to go, because many programs are written in it, as well as PHP. You get Standalone Development and Web Development. Its a double-wammy.
