Both of them. I tend to keep my systray icons to a minimum.
Some of them are just an unnecessary waste of resources.

yeah i have a lot of tray icons. but they all serve a good purpose(cept this gay one that i cant remove. it's pissing me off)

as for the desktop icons, i have too much programs ;). i use em most of em on a weekly basis ironically.
