Let me code VB for the last time. Ever.

Set ReasonsNotToUseLinux = Nothing.

Yup. I finally figured out how to get onto the internet using Linux, and tested it with my Ubuntu live CD. Let me back some crap up and Windows will forever be slain. I mean forever. My install CD is corrupt. =p

iago, tmp, whoever, if you don't want me using Ubuntu Linux, you had best mail me slackware before I've got too much stuff installed to reformat again. Ubuntu being the only (non Knoppix) distro I have on disk is the one I'm installing. Sorry. =p Thanks Blaze!

Yeah, have fun with that. Even if I primarily used Linux, I'd never get rid of Windows entirely. It's too common in usage.

I've been debating that point for a long, long time. I can't remember the last time I booted Windows, but I think it was before summer. I still keep it around, though, because you never know.

VB is good for quick applications to test things, then you should rewrite the application in a real language.

I'm 99.9% Linux. I haven't booted Windows in months

(I do use Windows, on occasion, but not by choice. At work or school, they don't give me the opportunity to choose)

Hi from Konqueror! I'm loving the % on the loading bar down in the corner, and how it says 38 Images of 38 loaded. Thats pretty sweet.

And as for VB being the only reason I didn't (almost typed don't, man, I gotta get used to this) use Linux, it was because I couldn't use the internet. VB was something I was willing to let go of, just didn't have to.

Ugh @ konqueror not letting me use tab+enter. Firefox for life, k?

It's odd. What got me to first give Linux a try was how well I thought KDE was put together after using it in the math lab at school.

Now FC4 starts with Gnome. I don't know how to change it over to KDE... but I don't think I want to, either.

If you like the look and feel of Gnome, though, you should try xfce. It's a lot like Gnome, but much much lighter on resources. I really liked using xfce when I used it.

I believe that xinitrc is only used on Slackware. But I could be wrong about that

What it stands for has absolutely nothing to do with which platforms use it in their startx script.

I thought I read somewhere that it was Slackware-specific, but apparently it's not. Oh well!

As you all know, Blaze is mailing me Slackware (should be here tomorrow, right Blaze?). He stuck a Windows XP Corporate Pro disk in there. I'm sorry, but I simply can not part with WoW. I'm reformatting and dual-booting Slackware and WXPCP (too long to type!). I'll be in Slackware most of the time, for days at a time perhaps (I don't play WoW as much as some of you may think), but yeah, I'm reinstalling Windows.

@Newby: I don't remember if you said it on the forums, IRC, or AIM, but you're right, Linux on narrowband (thats what its called, so be quiet) isn't fun.

Also, I am not giving up on using Linux, I'm simply giving up on trying to get WoW working with it. Well, it does work under wine, but rightclick interaction with NPCs is broken and my FPS gets totally owned (10FPS max, standing still with nothing happening, 2FPS moving).

Mesa might be an independent 3d solution, but Vesa (or the Video Electronics Standards Association) that put together a standard by which all video cards should be able to play with a generic driver. Mesa is a 3-D API that runs on top of your driver and is similar in nature to OpenGL.
