I'm looking for a good audio player that can slow down/speed up songs without changing the pitch of the notes. I know WMP can do it, but they do a horrible job at it and it sounds choppy. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Also, I don't think WinAMP can do it, but if they can please post. Also post if you found a plugin for WMP or WinAMP that works good too.

Are you looking for an audio player or an audio editor? Because it sounds more like you want something like Vegas 4.

Armin

I don't want to edit and save anything, just slow it down while I'm listening to it.

So you want to edit the speed, Vegas 4.

So you want to change the bitrate of something so that it's ridiculously low while you're listening to it? I'm assuming this is for guitar practice.

One of the old sound programs that comes with Windows can do it.  sndrec32, possibly.

How about an eidtor and player?  Goldwave.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Download the trial for Vegas 6 right now.

Not for practice, but so I can transcribe the really fast parts so I know what they're playing.

It does it, but it's too eww. You have to convert the file to a .wav first, then you have to open it, and press "Slow Down" like 50 times. I'm looking for something that you can load an MP3 with and just move a little bar to the left to make it play slower.

How exactly does this work, edits it, saves it, the you have to open it to play it?

Sweet, I'll try it out as well.

GoldWave seems to lower/raise the pitch depending on the speed, anyway to fix this?

You'd have to adjust the pitch to compensate. I don't think there's any other way... Other than midis which use notation and you can adjust bpm of the actual notes, everything else will have a lower pitch when slowed.

Certain programs somehow make it so the pitch doesn't change.

They would have to compensate for the pitch. Adjusting pitch to speed at a certain ratio. But you can do it yourself right?
