That about sums it up:

I didn't even realize there was one.

The thing about elections is that they're all liars anyway, and they all just say what we want to hear, not what they're going to do, so why should I care?  It's not like one of them is going to be any more evil than the others.

It's called passive resistance.  I don't like how they behave, and all the bullshit that they (politicians) spew, so I'm going to exercise my right to not vote as a civil protest.  So there.

Haha, I didn't see that question.

Allow me to answer it: I wouldn't care.

In fact, if they could do prohibition well (ie, stop bootlegging), it would be amazing.  Beer causes so many problems here, especially with natives.

Hehe.  I read an article on a Mexican drug gang preying on Native Americans on their reservation.  They were trying to shift their addiction from alcohol to methamphetamine.

Prohibition of marijuana atleast would probably make things worse, our we are very proud of our drug policy which is very effective in keeping soft drug users of marijuana and hashish away from hard drug users, we treat drug addiction and problems as a public health crisis and it has worked very well so far and will probably never change. As for beer, well I highly doubt thats going away either, too many people like it. Besides doesn't America have the highest drunk driver deaths in the world, not us?

I'm not sure if America has the highest rates, but I wouldn't be surprised.  In addition to the fact we have a pretty high population of ignorant retard drivers, we also use automobile (as opposed to public) transportation a lot more than most countries.

Well, whether or not they prohibit alcohol, I don't care; but they have to do SOMETHING to fix the problem with natives.

For those of you who haven't grown up around this problem, here's what's going on where I live (and, to a lesser extent, in the rest of Canada):

The Native people are catered to.  They're given all the money they need to survive, so they never have to work.  They're encouraged to not work, because if they get a job they end up with less income.  So they stay home and do nothing, because, why wouldn't they?  They have nothing to strive for, no goals, we've robbed them of that, and as long as we keep giving them free money, why bother?

My stepdad trains natives as a living to drive trucks.  Basically, they're given a $10,000+ course on how to drive trucks, for free, and they're guarenteed a permanent job.  Most of them end up showing up to class drunk and get kicked out.  Most others graduate, then go back home, and don't take the job.  Out of 100+ drivers he's trained, only 1 has actually taken the job.  That's $10,000+ * 99+ of taxpayers money wasted on people who aren't interested in learning anyway.  Why would they take a job for less when they can get by without doing anything?

I realize that I'm generalizing.  There are rare cases where some individual or tribe will get smart and invest their money.  I know of at least one tribe in Northern Manitoba who invested their money, and they're doing extremely well.  They have a better school than the white kids (who aren't allowed to go to their school), and overall they're in better shape than a lot of people.

But the problem is, you can't blame the vast majority of natives for being the way they are.  They're basically spoiled children.  They've been given all the money they need their entire lives without working, and they end up as drunks.

Oh, and one other thing: they're given more if they have more children.  So therefore, the population of natives (here) is exploding with every generation, and the problems are only escalating.

What I want is for a government official to recognize the problem and to take steps to solve it, besides giving them more money.  Giving them free money is not the answer.

And that's my political statement. :)

But, if the native population is really taking up that percentage then chances are that the canidates need their votes in order to be elected.

Haha, the same sort of problem with natives exists here too, except we don't give them all the money they need to survive, so they're all drunks who live in poverty :)

Well, they live in poverty here, too, but just because they spend all their money on alcohol.

hmm - cultural influence from america? i think so.
it was quite interesting the other day when i saw a clip of Bushy giving statements - one would be before presidency - the other as president - back and forth - he was pretty much arguing with himself - we cant simply go to war with a nation to resolve this - war is the only answer. it was quite funny.

Maybe you'll get someone that does something about gun problems in the inner city other than blaming the US ;).

In northern NM (Gallup) there are many indians there.
I've heard stories from a friend that has seen dozens of people lining the street drunk & passed out.
Some indian folk are crazy, others invest into casinos (cause its their land & they can do w/e) & make MILLIONS & help out people in their tribe.

I don't know.  Yeah you feel bad for taking their land away & slaughtering them, but that was a 100+? years ago.  We don't pay black people cause they were slave, why pay indians?

Man 3: Right on!

Canada had slaves.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Canada

From the article:

Quote
In 1793, under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe, legislation (the Act Against Slavery) was passed in Upper Canada that allowed for gradual abolition: slaves already in the province would remain enslaved until death, no new slaves could be brought into Upper Canada, and children born to female slaves would be freed at age 25. This effectively ended all slavery by 1810. The act remained in force until 1833 when the Emancipation Act abolished slavery in all British colonies.

Canada was founded in 1870.  Therefore, Canada has never had slaves.

So?  My ancestors used to run around crucifying people.  Quik's ancestors killed Jesus.

The important part is, the country of Canada never allowed slavery, and the country of Canada has never had any special laws making other races sit at the back of the bus and use a different washroom and stuff.
