Towelie

I could only dream about doing that. My mom starts yelling at me to get off after being on an hour or so.

Mythix

Do what I did, move out to your own house and dont worry about it.

You're supposed to say "But mom, I do homework on this computer!  I just play WoW for like 10 minutes to relax!"
That works if you're not failing any classes.. I have an A(+) average so eh I could get away with that. :P

I really doubt she'd buy that.
Seriously, my mom comes downstairs and finds me playing SC one day and I'm like "Oh I'm just taking a break from doing my homework (truth was it wasn't due till the day after the next day) so I can pay more attention."
She was just like "ok, just do your homework."

Of course, I have 0 missing assignments and straight A's so that helps a lot. Heh.

Of course, you're motivated and you care about your grades.  I don't and I'm pretty sure Towelie doesn't either.  I have a 3.5 without trying.  I do nearly every homework assignment late and the projects a month late.  I'm lucky my teacher accepts late work. :)

Basically, your advice sucks. :)

Not saying I don't.  Frankly, I'd hate having to live like my parents do as an adult.. they work all fucking day.  I'm motivated enough to not have to have to work like that at some place where getting moved up is something that happens once in a blue moon.  None of my teachers accept work a week late.  And I don't really try in school either, I mean there's a couple tests I might study for (civics tests) but it's all really easy to me still.  Oh well, in two years it won't be that way for sure.. (college classes, ugh).

I'm already in college classes (and have been since my sophomore year); they're easier than you'd expect.  In fact, the curriculums are a lot more steady than most of the high school courses I've taken.

You try a lot harder than me, I can tell you that for sure.  If I did my homework at all, I'd have a 4.0.  High GPA's are easy to attain, they mean very little.  I mean there's kids in the special education class that have "Academic" letters.  Grades don't make you smart (as I'm sure you're well aware).

I'm glad you have that motivation, though.  My dad always tells me "get a good education so you don't have to work out in the cold like me."  I think I'm doing pretty well in the field I'm going to enter, so I don't really try to hard in other classes (homework-wise).  I try when it really matters (IE I have about 20+ assignments I need to complete by this Friday).

Huh?

On Teamspeak before I was banned (-_-), it was always "yeah I have like 20 projects I need to get done, bye."

That sounds reasonable to me.  I used to play a lot more (I've been busy lately).  Tell her that it's a much better past-time than drinking/partying! :)

I've been given enough chances; I'm a nerd for life.

Shockingly, partying and being a nerd are not mutually exclusive  :o
