Laptops++;
« on: January 22, 2005, 06:51:40 pm »
I bought a new laptop today.  It's awesome, it's called a toughbook, made by Panasonic.  It's got a steel outer case, a built in handle, and I could probably drive over it in my car and it would be ok.  If I had a car.

The stats are:
300mhz
128mb ram
7gb harddrive
12.1" screen
- Extra battery
- Docking station
- Carrying case
===============
Total, after tax, cad$400

I installed Linux, which takes up about 560mb of harddrive, and I plan to bring it to school with me.  If anything happens to it, I'm not out $2700 (like my good laptop), and if I do drop it down a flight of stairs, it'll likely be ok.  Or if somebody tries to rob me, I can bash them with it.  It's really cool.

What distro?

If Slackware, what'd you select to uninstall? I killed KDE / Gnome and got a gig free. I WANT MORE FREE SPACE. :O

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I posted this before I named it; "Tank"

And I just went through each page and disabled everything I wasn't planning on using.  Mostly X stuff, development stuff (besides C++), sound, irc clients, mail clients, aim/icq clients, etc.

I don't plan on using it for chatting or listening to music -- it's purely 100% for school work and similar stuff.

Oh fuck.

I just realized you said it was a toughbook.

I get to fix one of those next time I am at my dad's house. 8)
