Does anybody know what port AIM uses to transfer files? Turning on/off my firewall while sending files is a real pain in the ass.

Also, when I was sending a file to my brother [on the same network] over AIM, why did it transfer at like, 1mb/s? I didn't transfer it through the network.. :|

IIRC, it uses 5190 to transfer files.

You were directly connected to your brother who was on the same network; the file never left your lan.

Ergot

I send files through AIM to my sister sometimes. Windows lacks transfer speed on their transfer window.

Yep, but it's configurable, so if you're like me and already have a different port forwarded for random stuff, you can change it.  In Gaim for sure, but in real Aim probably.

Yeah, AIM transfers file directly.

Newby

I use 6118 for file transfers. :P

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

So that's what the Network thing is in Preferences, eh?
