I'm going to be working for a small local company doing PHP/MySQL development.  The name isn't important, because you've never heard of it and I don't want them to find this with Google.

38k/year (works out to $18.30/hour, I think), full benefits, 3 weeks vacation.  Not too bad for a starting job.  I'll instantly save $1250 on my wisdom teeth and $135 on contacts, so it's already a good thing.

It seems like fun, too.  He says the first project I get to work on will be related to security, because he knows that's what I'm into.  I don't know any details yet, but I'm sure it'll be fun.

Oh yeah, and it's a nice bikeride from home.

i guess you graduated school then?

Not officially, I just wrote my last exam (ever) yesterday.  The ceremony is June 1.

Don't forget, that's about $16 American.  But that's still not bad.

Graduates from my University's Co-op program (that's BSc degrees with 12 months experience) expect to get 35 - 40k/year no matter where they work.  Anything lower is considered below out skill level.  So this fit right in! :)

Drexel's Co-op grads get mad cash, especially the engineers (me!) with an average of $50k USD out of undergrad, which is AMAZING!

Cool stuff.  What kind of engineering?
My cousin started at $65k (with bachelor's in CE from NMSU) for an oil firm? in Houston.

Do you like PHP? Like enjoy it? Because if you like it as much as I like it, I think it's good to be doing something you like
in a field you like and getting paid. It's like me getting paid to make fun of kids at school.

I'd say stick with the job for as long as you can.

I don't like it a lot, but I don't hate it either.  I think it'll be fun to do it for awhile, and who knows?  The guy who I'll be working for is well aware that I'm into security, so hopefully I'll be able to exercise that talent :)

That's exciting!!

I hope that you have loads of fun doing it. :)
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.
