Does it update GVim, or just Vim?

I would imagine it updates gvim.  I rarely use gvim, though, so I'm not positive.  I'm going to install it shortly on my home computer, I'll let you know when I do.

<edit> yes, it updates gvim.

Now that I'm home, here's the link: http://www.vim.org/download.php

Anyone else having troubles with their vim files not being found?  I've had to add a line to my .bashrc to force it to find the files in the right directory.

Using Gentoo...

Most people here followed iago with using Slackware, except me, using Ubuntu. Of course, I can't help either, because I'm a gedit fan over vim. But I guess Slackware and Gentoo are brothers in a way.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I downloaded the source, did ./configure, make, make install, and it worked fine.  It could be becuase I had vim6.3, so it might be using vim6.3's helper files.
