I have an 87 accord, the previous owners SUCK @ maintenance.  mismatched nuts/bolts all throughout.

SO FAR, I've replaced brakes (all around, not just the pads either), steering, a/c, cv joints, thermostat?, idle control valve.

my muffler FELL OFF the other day, a/c doesnt work (again).

HOWEVER, it runs!!!...and I was supposed to change the oil in Novemember of 2004!

Toyotas ARE good cars.  They're built to last.  They're not really sporty or visually amazing or anything, but they work if you wash them regularily (salt from roads during winter eats away at anti-rust coating).  My dad, up until this year, was using a car made in 1990.  1990 Corolla.  That thing still ran and everything worked.  Just, he didn't wash the car in the winter ever so the body went to hell (rusts literally the size of my entire leg).

My little Chevy S-10 has been around for 24 years. It was made 1983. It still runs and everyting works, the only problem (at the moment) is a clutch that I'm fixing later this summer. It's got a total of like, maybe 1 cubic foot of rust. It's been through many winters and salty roads. (It has a protective layer of like, .25" dirt. Keeps the water out, and off of the suspention.) I <3 it! It also gets 24 city and 30~ highway mpg!

My Honda has been through hell & back & lives on.  If everything had been maintained itd be a nice little car...but the previous owners suck @ that (& so do I sorta)...i.e., I need to change my oil (since Nov 2004)

My dad drives an 88' Integra LS to work and back everyday, he just keeps up with maintaining it.  My Mustang doesn't give me any major problems, I just have a bunch of small ones because the dumbasses that had it before me didn't take care of it...that being one of the reasons I may just gut it and turn it into a strip car.
