The Black Cat -- By Poe / Gravedigger
« on: September 17, 2006, 06:13:13 pm »
While camping I read the story "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe.  The story is re-told by Grave Digger in their song, "The Black Cat" (duh :)), which is a bonus track on their album "The Grave Digger".  It's one of Poe's better stories, in my opinion.  I won't say anything about it, since saying anything ruins it.

Here is a link to the story: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Black_Cat
I typed out the lyrics, since it's a bonus track I couldn't find them online, being a bonus track (warning: will probably spoil the book!): http://www.javaop.com/~ron/documents/Black%20Cat.txt

There's just something about songs based on stories that I just love.

Also, there's one line I couldn't figure out:
I see her shadow hanging in the moon
and I start drinking... ???

If you can figure out what comes after "drinking", that'd be awesome :)

From what I can make out "rye till noon".  Not sure about Rye, but that would make sense.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Hmm, both make sense.

"And I start drinking rye till noon"
"And I start drinking right till noon"

I'm not sure which is right, so I'll put both.  You guys rock :)
