Probably because the police aren't trained to murder (sorry, kill -- nevermind my loaded words) people unless they absolutely have to.  From reading the article, it doesn't sound like he was ever a major danger, just a little bit insane.

oh yeah, wasnt a threat.
Armed man hopped up on drugs crashes through security & runs wildly into the Capitol building...
How does that NOT look like a threat!?  Fuckin' Captain InsaneO bursts in with a gun and isnt a big threat to the lives of those that run our country?

I think this just one more way in which Washington is screwed up.

1) Few of the politicians are doing anything good
2) A Capitol officer stops a woman for going through security & he gets punched & then a fuss is made because he arrests her
3) Gun wielding crack head bursts through security in his SUV only to be tackled after making it into the Capitol building.

What iago said, had they killed him they'd have been faced with a lot of other problems. I'm sure if they saw him aiming at someone, about ready to pull the trigger, they'd make the choice to take him down.

If you had the choice, would you rather kill someone or just suppress them?

Can't fool a FoOoL

I read the article from end to end. and it sounds to me like:
- He never fire a bullet
- He never hurt anyone (except maybe himself)
- The police/security guards/whatever were able to take him into custody

Sounds like the situation was under control, barring the initial shock.
