Author Topic: My AP Env Sci teacher sucks  (Read 7583 times)

My AP Env Sci teacher sucks

OK, so I have all A's except for this classs...I'm about 4 points from an A. This teacher is horrible, he's actually taught us _one_ time. The rest of the time we're doing labs, watching movies that aren't really teaching us anything, and sometimes we'll answer book questions/read the textbook. We're about 3 chapters behind the other teachers class. He was obviously a big druggie and a tree hugger and he's very forgetful, which i hate in teachers. I have a good amount of extra credit that I've been trying to redeem for like a month (because I was trying to get my grade to an A to send to Hampden-Sydney) and he just never got around to it. We have about 10 grades in the gradebook, and the semester ends in 3 weeks!

Now, I'm not complaining fully because it could be the reason that my grade isn't a C (since we're moving slow) but it's irritating when I'm trying to get to an A. There are only two classes that I ahve where it's possible for my grade to drop to a B (like if I did no work) but I know both of those teachers would bump me up. This guy won't. I was deferred from my 1st choice school and want to send them a straight A report card since they're basing my decision off of my 1st semester grades.

Does anyone have any suggestions with communicating with this guy in a nice way? I've been told by another teacher who said that my science teacher said I was a good guy, and she said that alot of what happens is based on if he likes you...so I don't want him to not like me.

That's often the way it is in academics and I absolutely hate it.  Sorry that you're in that situation.

I already have the extra credit. I have to always remind him though. Like one time he said we'd get extra credit on these current event things we do if we go to a seminar or something other than newspaper clippings. I had two events, and he gave me a 95 on the assignment (which I did exactly to the specifications) and then I reminded him and he gave me 5 points extra credit which I have in my notebook to use (but he won't ever take it!) And also if we donated money to the united way we got extra credit, so I did that, and I have extra credit for bringing in Al Gore's movie. He offers extra credit for alot of things, it's not hard to _get_ it, it's hard to get him to actually credit you. This girl I know has done like 3 extra credit readings (read a book on a list, do a small paper, get extra credit) and has not seen any of the rewards.

Donating money to an organization (supposedly) gives you extra credit? That's ridiculous.  He should be fired for that :P.

He sounds like a horrible teacher.  Maybe you should talk to an administrator about him?

Spitting image of our AP Biology teacher. I asked my bio 1 teacher from freshmen year if she would teach the class, and she started blushing and told me to be quiet and walked off really quickly. So I guess we're stuck with him.

Lmao!  I did that with one of my crappy teachers.  It was a huge mess and she was pissed off.  She yelled at the whole class since she didn't want to single us out.  After about a week the three of us that complained became her most favorite students.  Lmfao!

Heh... the only time any complaints were filed with teachers at my high school was when the teacher was going to fail someone.  When that happened, the teacher was accused of being biased by the parents because there was no way in hell the student was to blame.

On a side note, is your signature from Allegory of the Cave?
