Super LAN Party @ Ron's House!
« on: March 14, 2005, 10:32:32 pm »
This summer, we're having a LAN party at Ron's house. He hasn't agreed to this yet, but I'm sure he will, and if he doesn't, I'm showing up anyhow. ^^. We will be staying for a week, and will each bring our computer with us, plus some games, and for the programmers, their compiler(s) of choice. We'll play games and stuff, and teach eachother programming stuff, and the entire time, we will speak only in a programming language. For instance, if Newby wakes up at 2PM on Monday, he needs to say MOV "MOUTH", "WAFFLES" to get breakfast. Who's in? </joke>
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

cough I'm so in I'll be in connecticuit for the summer so I can catch a ride on one of my vacations from work.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

I'll sleep in my computer. And I'll kick all your asses.

Plus, a super lan party would mean iago WOULD HAVE TO USE WINDOWS FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR!

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

The only multiplayer games I like are Starcraft and Ghost Recon.  And Starcraft works poorly on a LAN.

But I don't care about LAN party, just come here and hang out.  :)

Although this was a joke, I'm in. I just talked to my dad about trading in our Washington, DC trip for a round trip ticket to canada. (Plane). I'm only 14, though, so someone needs to pick me up at the airport and drive me to Ron's house (Ron's mom!). We want.. eh.. a week for this? That'd give us plenty of time to get bored with eachother. ASM would get lame after the first day, so we can move to VB. (<3!). We should set aside a time period that everyone has available, so that we can all go, and its more likely to happen. I'm pretty much available all summer long, as I have no life.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

That would be easy.  I live maybe 15 minutes from Winnipeg International Airport and I can normally get a car.

You almost had me convinced.  But now I changed my mind, you aren't allowed to come here.

The main problem is that somebody who is 14 (or 15 or 16 or 17) that comes to visit an online friends just seems wrong.  Not so much to me or them, more to parents and such, and you have to respect how parents feel.

I went to visit Tmp, but I was 21 and he was 19.  That's not such a problem :)

Too late.

iago, I wasn't serious about the VB thing. Also, I asked my dad and he seemed rather serious when he said sure.

EDIT: HdxBmx27 is in, if he can get a buddy pass from Agarwaen, which means hes in too.

Networks -- I don't blame them at all.  I'd be surprised if some 15-year-old's parents let him go to a 21-year-old's house.  It's just the principle.

In any case, cool.  Does she know I exist? :-o

As I accumulate more and more junk, there's less and less room for things like cows.  They've all ended up in a pile along with my penguin at the top-right corner of my desk. :(

Anyway!

On a side note I'm turning 16 so I'll drive to canada, who wants to get picked up? By the way, It's illegal for me to drive out-of-state, and DEFINATLEY illegal for me to drive out of country. So you'll be breaking the law, I hope you don't mind.

Uhh, I'm not sure exactly, except for the "Spaghetti Factory" is near by. :P

I am staying near the border by some small towns like Ninette, Belmont, Killarney, and I might be in Brandon for a day. I will be there for an estimated 1 week, and I have lots of things to do, people to see, so I will see what I can do to get into Winnipeg.

Well, I live less than an hour from the border, I'm at the very south end of Winnipeg.

"The Spaghetti Factory" moved a couple years ago.  I don't know where it used to be, but now it's directly in the middle of Winnipeg.  About a 20-30 minute drive from where I live.

How old are you?  If you can get here, we'll go golfing or something :)

How do you have a "Linux installfest"?  Don't you just install it once, and then write it to all the harddrives? Why would there be more than a single person?  Or am I not understanding this right?

LAN Party and my house. We can steal the PPL buildings WiFi.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

It's a way for the school club to promote Linux use (and their club).  They provide distros (or how to get them), serve pizza and drinks, and give stuff away (no doubt some stuffed Tuxes).  They also provide support for everyone to get them off the ground.
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

Hmm, I should start one like that!  Of course, then I'd have to talk to the CSSA, and they're total wankers (or nerds), even I fear them.

Just a note: intruding on somebody else's network without permission is very much illegal.  It's just as illegal as hacking somebody to obtain access to their network.  Just a warning :)

Me too.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.
