I don't think dressing up as Hitler is racist at all. You aren't stereotyping anybody, and you aren't making fun of a race.

It is in poor taste and totally offensive. But not racist.

I want to dress up as Hitler and learn some German phrases for when I go out for Halloween. Who wouldn't like being yelled at in German to give someone candy?

The only way I could agree with that is if the person accepted the beliefs Hitler held and was trying to promote them or something. Dressing up as Hitler isn't naturally racist.

There's a difference between being racist and being offensive or being in extremely poor taste. Yoni may be offended, but that doesn't mean it's racist. Racist generally involves calling out a stereotype, such as "all muslims are terrorists" or "all black people are violent", whereas this is just dressing up as an evil person. But that's not racist!

Muhammed is a tricky one, since dressing up as him would be very offensive to one particular race. So maybe that one depends on intent, somewhat.

But by my argument here, I'd have to say no. It's just offensive.

If you dressed up as a muslim and wore a sign that said "Muhammed", I don't think that would be racist. Perhaps offensive, though. If you strapped dynomite to yourself, that would be racist.

The first one is from an episode of south park (The Passion of the Jew) the second one is from an episode of family guy. For anyone that doesn't know the first one is "It is time for revenge" and "We must exterminate the Jews". The second one is "You will sit down. You will shut up. You will not insult Germany" or something to that effect... technically I think their German is wrong anyways. It's much more effective in the context of the episode
