The previous owners of a condo just accepted my offer (for $5k below the asking price.. hooray for shitty economy!), and possession date is March 15. It's a decent place, $130k (a bit below average for what I'm getting), 2 bedrooms, decent amount of living space, good building, close but not too close to downtown (
map).
My current lease expires on April 30, which means I'm going to have 45 days of overlap. That means that I'll be able to get my Internets set up at the new place before I'm there. Therefore, the downtime should only be as long as the drive from here to there.
While I'm at it, I'm going to be upgrading my connection to a commercial-grade one. There's a local reseller (les.net) that uses a commercial ISP's lines but manages the traffic themselves. They're a small-time one-man shop (or maybe two people, I forget), and from a brief conversation with him I'm convinced I'll get better service than any of the big boys (the fact that I COULD talk to somebody knowledgeable, and that he knew about things like "Linux" makes me feel better). So yeah, it should be more stable and maybe even a bit faster.
I'll post pictures once I get it. I'm planning on painting it, so I might do before/after shots.
So yay, the bank owns my ass for 25 years now. Woo!
