I took my AP Comparative Government exam today, and overall it seemed pretty easy. I finished the multiple choice with 20 minutes left, which gave me time to go back and do ones I had skipped or wasn't sure on (which was about 7 out of 55) and then the free response were pretty easy. I'm fairly certain I got 6 right, 1 I know I answered it right but maybe not in enough detail, and then one other one (one that counted for 25%) I know I got wrong. I didn't know what a referendum was. :(

there goes my hopes of a 5, and probably a 4 too.

I wrote this exam awhile ago, but I remember having some options as to which questions I wanted to answer in the free response.  You didn't have that?

Nope we had to answer all 8. The other ones were pretty simply (contrast Nigerian presidential power/Iran presidential power - that's the one I think I didn't elaborate enough on, and stuff like ways people can participate in politics under an authoritarian regime, bicameralism, political parties, and one or two other things.) everyone finished 30 minutes early so we got to live early, which was nice.

I put that a referendum was an internal check by the government to ensure corruption free and efficient practice. We had to put who can issue them in Britain and Russia and an example of each. I put PM in Britain and President in Russia, which I assumed was correct and then just said dissolving parliament and Britain and Putin's corruption crackdown in Russia. I doubt I got any points for that one since it's pretty far from what a referendum really is.

Ok, it definitely sounds different from what I remember.  We had to study Russia, France, England, and China, and then choose 1 of the following "third world countries" - Mexico, Nigeria, or India.  I don't think the multiple choice tested on any of those third world countries, and there was 1 (maybe 2) free response questions for the third world country we chose to study.  I remember the first question (which was not specific to a third world country) gave us a choice between 3 different essay topics.

Yep they redid the test a 1 or 2 years ago. We study: UK, Nigeria, Mexico, Iran, Russia, and China now.

I think Iran is a good addition, but it seems kind of silly to cut France for Nigeria.

Well Nigeria is a fledgling Democracy and is actually in a very interesting predicament in regards to current conflicts and such, whereas France is kind of static.

Yeah, that might be true.  But they've already got three third world countries in there now (whereas there used to be 1 and it was somewhat optional).  And France's political history is very interesting and more likely useful in mainstream politics.  People should know about Charles de Gaulle, and the reformation, etc.

In 3 weeks I'm going to Texas A&M for a 10 week CS REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program which is a pretty sweet deal considering the stipend and paid housing, meal allowance, and round trip flight ^_^;

What I find funny is that when I applied via their online application in late February, I put under the "Other Technical Skills" section (any skills and experience not obvious from my transcript, recommendations, etc.) a couple paragraphs on what I've learned from my time doing Battle.net Bot Development... of course I didn't call it exactly Battle.net Bot Development :P.

EDIT:  I'll be working on the STAPL project which is a superset of the C++ STL but for parallel computing systems.  What exactly I'll be doing won't be decided until I arrive.

Cool stuff.  I've really enjoyed participating in research this past semester.  I was in a class that was designed to teach (and perpetuate) research skills and methods as well as (this was the bulk of the class) do work on a real research project.  We were working on a computer vision system which is classified as "biomimetic" (meaning it mimics biological vision.  this specific system mimicked human vision).  It was really fascinating and it was great experience in working with a smaller team (four people) as a subset of a larger team (20-30 people).

Though I'm going to be almost fully occupied with my summer internship (another programming job), I'm hoping that some of my team members and I will be able to continue some of the projects that have some loose ends.  It was really fun working on.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
