Hmm, is the price difference that much? $40 = a 24 here.

HOLY CRAP!  A 30 of Miller Lite is about $22.  I buy bottles (tastes better) so it's like $16 for 18, if it's on sale it's $12 for 18.

Good beer is usually about $1+ per bottle.  Like Sam Adams 6packs are about $8.  A 6 of Corona is about $9.  Local stuff is usually cheaper and better.  I need to start getting growlers of some of it.
Yeah, that's crazy. The only beer I keep here (I don't usually drink it, it's for guests) is exactly $20 for a 12, and that's all it comes in. I believe an average 24 is up to $34 or $35. Cheap ones are $28 - $30.

Wow with those prices college life must suck in Canada.

Some people, like myself, don't drink. For many reasonable others, drinking doesn't define their lives. In the set of people 5 standard deviations to the left of the mean in intelligence, you would find some people who agree with you.

haha we have a soberfag

laugh at him
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Milwaukee's Best is NOT the best of Milwaukee. It's not really good at all.

And my pastor doesn't drink, and he's......... interesting.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

What brand?
A local one, brewed in my city. You've never heard of it. "Fort Garry Dark Ale"

Wow with those prices college life must suck in Canada.
Everybody I know in Canada that went to college went there to learn, not to drink/party. I always thought that the partying college guys was a joke/stereotype until you started posting about it here.

Show me someone who does not drink, and I will show you someone who is boring.
Like others, I have to totally disagree. I know a lot of non-boring people who either don't drink, or don't drink much. Drinking is just a crutch.

In the real world if you talk like that you'll find a standard set of 5 curled digits coming from your left to deviated your ass down :D

iago, saying drinking is a crutch is just as ignorant as saying all people who don't drink are boring.

12 pack of Guiness, 12 pack of Sam Adams Boston Lager, 12 pack of Newcastle = ~55$.

Also, Sam Adams Oktoberfest, mm.
Also, IPA, eww. Too much goddamn hops, taste's like fruit loops.
Also, WESTMALLE TRIPEL, BEST BEER EVER. My friend brought it back for me from Belgium, and it's widely considered to be the best beer in Belgium, which is the microbrewery capital of the world. It's brewed by the Trappist monks, and is a very regional beer over there, which makes it fairly expensive to import... So far what I'm seeing is like fucking 8$ a bottle. The sad thing is... it's almost worth it!

Ska Brewing in Duragno, CO makes an AWESOME IPA.  I definitely dislike the majority of the IPAs I've had, way too intense.

I want to go to Germany where beer is cheaper than water.

Somebody implied earlier that drinking is necessary to be interesting. In that case, drinking is totally being used as a crutch.

I dunno about you guys, but I generally find people who drink to be boring and uninteresting people both sober and drunk.

Maybe it's that belligerence or complete emo-sity gets old quick.

What the fuck is with you drinking those beers, you're in highschool? When I was in highschool it was bud light at best.

True, and I have no problems with those people. My weekends are probably more fun, but I respect their decision not to drink. It's a personal choice. However, a large portion of college students do engage in drinking and thus expensive beer probably dampens the cost-benefit of weekend partying.

It is possible to have a good time as well as learn. I go to arguably one of the best schools in the South Eastern region of the United States. However, it is also consistently rated as one of the top drinking schools on Princeton Review. Still, the school produces alumni who, to put it bluntly, run shit. There are a lot of people at large schools who maybe drink away their days, but here we work hard during the week but play hard on the weekend. I don't see that as a problem.

Heh, when I was in university, I worked hard during the week, and did homework during the weekends. I didn't have time for a whole lot else. I think that most people I went to school with were in roughly the same position.

And since the drinking age here is 18, it was even legal for us to drink, if we'd had time for it. The irony is kind of funny.

I have taste. It probably has something to do with the way I was raised, and no real desire to get wasted and live my life like you.

Depends on the school you go to and the load you take.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Yep, that's very true.  I know people who go here who have an abundance of free time because they take a few easy classes a semester.  I take the most challenging classes I feel I'm prepared for (allowing for graduation requirements) and work very hard in them.  I have free time, but it's not bountiful.  I usually have about half a day on the weekend I do with what I please, but I spend the rest of the time doing homework.  I have enough free time during the week to do leisurely things on the Internet, go to dinner and lunch with friends and maybe go watch a movie every now and then, but that's usually about it.

None of this bothers me, though, because my entire reason for being here is to learn.  Having fun is necessary in small amounts, but that's not why I came to college.
