Hmm. Well, that midterm I thought I failed I didn't fail. I got an 84/100. Everyone did so well, in fact, the curve screwed a ton of kids, since an A = 95-100, and a B = 82-94. Lowest grade was barely outside a 60%. :O

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Wow, that's a pretty good average.  Seems like the curve is a bit unfair, though.  I've always thought curves should help, but never hurt the normal letter grade assignment.

Agreed, my opinion regarding the use of curves is that they should be primarily a tool for the teacher to gauge his effectiveness.  When test scores are too low, curving the grade up makes up for the teacher making the test too hard or not teaching the material effectively enough (taking into account considerations such as a split-bell or otherwise unusual curve).  When the teacher has made a test too easy, resulting in test scores that are too high, it should be a signal for the teacher to adjust his test creation and/or to cover material at a more aggressive pace, not to punish students that did well but not as well as others.

I have never heard of any of the professors at Oklahoma doing anything like that. Infact in most of my classes it is specifically stated that the curve is only done to help students and 90%+ is a guaranteed A. I have seen this for classes from different departments so I suspect it is a university wide deal.

I often find it interesting how policies like this can vary from place to place. It really makes you wonder what it actually means when someone says they have X.XX GPA...

Craziest shit went down tonight.

Initially, the plan was to sleep in and rest. So I played some Fallout 3 until about ~1am. I'm still wide awake so I take some vicodin to mellow me out in hopes of falling asleep. That fails. FriendA calls me. FriendA wants booze, and I have a little bit of a handle left, so I tell him to come by. I give him the handle, he tells me they're down the hall hanging out. So, I go and hang out with them. FriendA has an acquaintance, BitchA, from high school, and there are three other miscellaneous friends in the room. FriendA and BitchA get plastered.

2am or so: a knock on the door. We invited another friend, so we assume it's him. We open the door. It's the police. They ask to see FriendA. FriendA steps out, and we hide the booze in the meantime, assuming that we're all gonna get citations for underage drinking/minor in possession. We sit and wait, and a knock follows. FriendA asks for his phone. We give him his phone, and he steps back out. We're all really confused now, so we wait some more. Another knock five minutes later. They ask to see BitchA. At this point, I leave to go to my room, as I figure they're gonna filter people out of the room one by one. Awkwardly enough the police don't stop me from leaving. Once I'm out of sight I sprint into my room, opening up the door to the stairs as a distraction. I am getting into bed when I hear the police, and I decide to eavesdrop. Points I picked out were:

"Look, here's the situation: we can have her come out, ID you, and you can go to jail."
"....*garble* terrorizing her, we know it was you....*noise*"

And finally as they're leaving,

"...we're gonna call phone companies and get records and all that good stuff and if we find out you did it, in addition to be charged with the crime you'll be in trouble for lying to us: that's a one way ticket out of UC Davis. Sober up, give us a call tomorrow if you have any information. Have a good night."

I wait a bit and run down the hall to his room to see what happened. He's not there. BitchA is, though. I ask BitchA what they talked to her about and she said something to the tune of "I don't remember." She's a stupid drunk slut who won't help me out with my need to know what happened. So I am heading back to my room when I find him in another room.

Here's what went down:

Apparently, he prank called our resident adviser and spooked her so much, she called the police. Magically. He was drunk at a frat party, doesn't know her number, and somehow managed to pull this off. They talked to BitchA apparently to see if he was going to rape her. They wrote both BitchA and FriendA citations for underage drinking (you know, because it's cool cops can come for one reason and bust you for an entirely different reason) and left. Well, this didn't sit well with FriendA. As it turns out, FriendA took ecstasy earlier that night, in addition to drinking probably a quarter of a handle in the short time frame we were hanging out for. So he loses control of his emotions and starts panicking. BitchA can't walk home now, because it's over a mile away, so we walk her down the hall to another friend (FriendB, a girl on the floor) that might be able to help out. FriendB agrees to help out. FriendB never agreed to have BitchA pass out in her bed and start puking though, so FriendB gets really upset. FriendB had friends over who start hooking up, and FriendB loses it. She leaves her room and goes downstairs.

The last few hours have involved dealing with a drunk bitch and a drunken friend, trying to calm them down, while simultaneously explaining to every person on the floor (that woke up because of the commotion) what happened without stirring up drunken friend's emotions. He's currently in the study lounge watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia to calm him down, along with FriendB, who's still angry.

Sorry if that really didn't make sense. I'm sleep deprived. The one night I decide to stay in turns out to be awesome. :D

And I got to clean a trash can full of puke, which wasn't cool either. But apparently I'm the only person man enough to deal with the smell of puke to help a bad situation.

A friend's Facebook status update sums it up (he lives on the floor below me):

"Ivan is why the fuck are there cops on floor 3?"

LOL.

Meh, I don't really have a problem with that kind of "fun", as long as it doesn't interfere with your studies.

It does, of all things, puts me to sleep very well. It didn't work last night.
