You might want to start thinking about anger management classes...

Shit, now I have to start seriously making the hard decisions.  Just got my first Ph.D. program acceptance notification AND an e-mail from a Northrop Grumman recruiter requesting an interview in the same day.  Shizzle.

That is a pretty tough decision.  The piece of advice I've heard over and over again is if you want to do graduate school, do it right away.  It's pretty hard to drop everything several years down the road and come back.  Many big companies will pay for you to go to graduate school while you work for them, but I don't think you'll usually have the option of doing a M.S. or a PhD.  I think it's usually a strictly course-based program.  I've heard that this kind of robs you of the grad school experience, which may or may not be a good thing, lol.

As for me, I'm pretty sure I'll go straight to graduate school.  I'm still unsure if I'll do PhD or M.S., though.

lol... I don't know man, that kind of looks like a tie to me.
My door is broken.  My hand is only damaged.
The door is still a door, for all practical purposes, albeit damaged (unless you knocked it off its hinges :P). And your hand is still a hand, albeit damaged. I vote tie. :)

My door won't heal.

You're making a lot of excuses!

Methinks we should declare the door the honorary winner.

You overreacted to something and decided to hit a wall. You posted it on an internet message board so that fellow posters would see you as cool and tough. </explanation>

Let's move on.

This isn't true.  They will typically pay for any classes that are part of a degree that applies to your job.  It doesn't have to be an exact match either so you could work on a MBA or a MS, for example.  It would be hard to justify taking more than one Masters level class a semester while working full time though, which can make it hard to stay on track and finish the degree.  I know several people that have received advanced degrees while working and it's not uncommon for it to take them 10 years to finish their MS simply because they can't take classes every semester and it's a lot harder for them to do really well taking only one class while competing with work/family/etc.

Maybe this is a misunderstanding.  I think at my university, a Master of Science is a thesis-based program.  A Master of Computer Science, for example, is a strictly course-based program.

Is this still inaccurate?  It seemed like from my discussions with professors and people I've worked with in the past, a research-based program is less commonly pursued/allowed.
