Today's XKCD is awesome:

Although personally, I'd move tomatoes farther left, they're pretty difficult to cut up (they tend to squish and piss me off).
You forgot to mention the coconut!

The coconut is so far off to the left, that you can't even see it. I spent 2 hours trying to crack open one of those suckers!
... then I realized it was canned. so I got out my can opener.
Oranges and tomatoes should be up.
Coconuts fails. It took me forever to drill a hole in one to pour out the milk and pour in rum.
"Coconuts are so far down to the left they couldn't be fit on the chart. Ever spent half an hour trying to open a coconut with a rock? Fuck coconuts."
That was Randall's comment on coconuts. :)

Yeah, I was trying to paraphrase that. I wasn't entirely sure if Ergot was alluding to that or not, so I kept my response generic. :D

That's not a problem with tomatoes, that's a problem with your knife! Tomatoes slice easily with a sharp one.

I've tried several knives, both sharp and serrated, none work well. Maybe we have tough Winnipeg tomatoes here..
It's not that funny to me, mainly because I disagree with it alot. It's a cute idea, but I have no difficulty cutting tomatoes and I love them.
I like his blog about this comic:
QuoteHoly crap. This strip's been up for 800 seconds and it's already the most controversial thing I've ever written, beating out comics about cunnilingus, the Obama endorsement, and my making 4chan tiny on the map of the internet. It turns out everyone and their mother has a fruit opinion, and every one of those opinions is now in my inbox.
Just remember to keep some perspective. If you think watermelon is delicious, and I think it's only so-so, the important thing is that we each find something we like. Who's to say whose taste is right?
I am. You are wrong; watermelon is overrated.
Also, I have never liked cantaloupe. It brings down otherwise tasty fruit salads. There, I said it.
Wtf oranges and bananas are tasty.
I think it's pretty interesting that so many people disagree with his placements enough to bring it up. When my friend linked it to me last night, he followed up by saying "I don't agree with his position on X..." and then brought up a bunch of similar claims.
I agree, though, oranges are more delicious than pineapples.

Plain? I've tried it. It's not as bad as I expected, but I think I agree with Randall's placement.

They taste good if you put salt on the slice of lemon.

Die, heathen!
Pineapples rank high on the "difficulty" thing, since they're sticky and messy and a pain in the ass to cut, but they're so tasty!
Somebody needs to write a Web survey where people are given a random fruit that they have to rank both on flavour and easiness, and they can keep going and doing more fruit if they want. *looks at Sidoh*

I like pineapples plain sometimes when there isn't that much of it, but I definitely like oranges more!
Make Randall do it! He started this whole mess!
I love Pineapples, Kiwi, Mango, etc
It's really not bad (if you can get over how much of a mess it is with the stickiness) in the morning to eat that stuff,
I found it's quicker to wake me up (and tastes better) than coffee.
kiwi is good w/strawberry and vanilla custard stuff

K.I.S.S.
I've been eating kiwis, bananas, and oranges for the past couple of weeks. To make it easy on myself, I just cut/peel them all in advanced, and stick'em in the refrigerator for when I'm on-the-go.

You want a sharp, thin blade that is not serrated. Typically the kind of knife you would use to chop a large amount of lettuce would be the same kind you want here. It needs to have a well sharpened edge (read: use a sharpening stone once in a while). Tougher tomatoes are actually easier to cut.
@Sidoh, I disagree with about half of the placements :)
I have a good knife set that I sharpen on a regular basis. I still find that when I cut tomatoes, they end up squishing. Maybe the tomatoes' skins are too hard while the innards are too soft. *shrug* :)
I've never had issues cutting tomatoes, but I don't really like them unless they're on a hamburger.

Maybe you're sharpening the knife wrong? Sharpening a knife correctly is not an easy task, and you might just be rounding the blade.
EDIT: Freshness and ripeness can factor in a lot as well.
My fruit is better than your fruit, fuck all of you!

Well, I have a sharpener thing that came with the knife set that I stick it in and pull it out of. I don't think you can go wrong with that, although it may not be the best.
That typically just puts an edge on the knife (as opposed to sharpening more than just the tip of the blade), but that should be plenty for tomatoes. You must fail.

Oh, that should work fine. We're poor so we sharpen our knives with that thin metal shaft.
Today's comic is even better, hahaha
