General Discussion / Lisette was hit by a car!!!!
« on: October 23, 2007, 03:56:05 pm »
I took Lisette (My 1990 Ford Probe LX - pic below) to get an oil change and emission test and then get some brake work done yesterday.

This morning they had not done anything with her yet! Today at 2:pm they called and said the technician was driving her to the emission testing garage on the other side of town and was hit by another car. They don't have any real information for me other than that.

I'm very worried about her. I have had her since high school (2002) and she got me through college with no problems. I hope this isn't the end of our relationship. Miss you babe!

UPDATE 1: Ennotville Garage has called and Lisette is ok. She has also passed the E-test! Apparently some kid came out of the high school and hit her in the front left panel under the headlight (which was untouched). So they garage is now sucking up to me (not that I would use Lisette like that) and getting the brake work done quickly. We will be together again tomorrow!

My guess is that 'big business' is behind this virus. I they can operate enough machines then they can track trends that are not as easily noticed. Hopefully it's not malicious intent.

Tracking what users are doing is malicious intent.

I agree. But I meant without doing an harm to the PC. Everyone should be on Linux now anyways.

His new album is out today. I'll have my thoughts on it later.

Collegehumor has been Hit or Miss with their videos. This one happens to miss. Sorry guys but a running joke about some guy with the words 'i love cock' written on his body is about as lame as when some douchbag does it a 3 AM to an unsuspecting passout.

The only way someone would've died is if the SWAT team messes up.  I don't see how anyone wouldn't comply with the entire SWAT team in their face.

accidents happen

What an idiotic thing to do. I hope J K Rowling looses her billions and if forced to be homeless again. The bitch can't avoid attention!

Terrible news my friend. I guess we all have to take a look at our own situations and realize how this can happen to any class in any developed country.

On the whole 'bringing you computer' conversation, I completely agree my my machines are irreplaceable. I have always told myself in the event of a catastrophe my two computers will be the first (if only) thing I grab.

Thing about if someone was killed during the raid. The pecker might have been up for murder.

I actually found it on wikipedia myself. Brings back tons of old memories. Now I'm going to use the Wayback Machine at archive.org and look at my old N64 website from grade 8!

Tabletop Gaming/RPGs / Do you remember the old BBS RPG?
« on: October 16, 2007, 12:51:54 pm »
I first got into the web around 1992-93 when a friend from school turned me on to BBS'ing. It was also around the time I got big on IRC. Well there was this text-based RPG that we played on some server. You would log in and continue the journey of going through forests. Building up your character and eventually heading into battle.

As what happens with all MMOG's that don't have a definite ending, the appeal wore off and I quit it. For the life of me I cannot remember what it was called. I distinctively remember a casino cabin that you would walk in and gable your gold that you earned.

Does this ring any bells?

I can understand driving 700+ to chase a storm (if thats your thing) but to drive to a white castle (which thank god I have never tried) for 500M is the most asinine thing I have heard. In a world where people are dying in the middle east to protect western supplies of oil, there are fools who do something like this. We should be so lucky to have transportation.

I hope on your next aimless venture your hit a small child in Missouri end up in a Kansas City prison the rest of your life!

General Discussion / Re: Recommendation for a laptop?!
« on: October 16, 2007, 08:31:06 am »
I just bought this laptop for about $100 cheaper (CDN) than listed in this site maybe a month and a half ago - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3114279 - It was an impulse buy that I felt I deserved for working very hard all summer. I put it on the business account as a bonus to myself.

Not a bad machine. Came with Vista (home basic) which I quickly ignored and booted Ubuntu. nice little machine. Small too!

What could possible be cool about the plains? 700+ is retarded.

Also I should add that you wouldn't know what to do with my girlfriend.
