What is the best way to approach this? Haven't done web development in a few years, but it seems to me its basically a public guest book with a rating system? If anyone wants to talk about the project and is perhaps interested in coming on board as an engineer, PM me.

The conclusion of all this scientific endeavour is that about 60% of Indian men have penises which are between three and five centimetres shorter than international standards used in condom manufacture.

Which leads to...

The issue is serious because about one in every five times a condom is used in India it either falls off or tears, an extremely high failure rate.

And..

General Programming / Bored during winter break? Code some php
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:00:56 am »
This is a project I had planned on tackling this coming weekend, but I thought maybe somebody here was bored and would want some additional php practice. Here's what I'm trying to do:

I need a simple blog-like piece of software, essentially allowing anybody to update. So there would be a form with their message and a anti-spam captcha (no other info is required) that would post whatever they put onto the main page. There should be a login for at least 1 admin to allow for moderation. I'd like each individual post to have a link where other users can post comments. Additional feature that isn't required but would be cool if you want the challenge is Facebook Connect so users who post comments (or post a message) could link with their Facebook account and display their name. Nothing else is really required except to disallow code in the posts so nothing gets hacked.

Design works not necessary unless you're an overachiever. ;)

General Programming / Texts From Last Night Clone
« on: December 16, 2009, 02:54:20 pm »
I want to make a website that is pretty much identical in function to Texts from Last Night. (Users can submit for review, post comments, etc.) I know there are tutorials and software packages out that mirror twitter functionality, and I think it might be easier to extend upon one of those. Any suggestions or run down of what this type of site is actually going to entail? Or anybody interested in working on it?

General Discussion / signs
« on: November 25, 2009, 09:02:39 pm »
does anyone have any information or links to information or recommended reading on the recognition/perception of signs? I've had overcoming feelings of sign recognition recently, pointing to a significant life decision I've been pondering. It's all been very situational and has cleared things up to the extent that it feels way more than coincidental. Parts have even felt spiritual. I'm interested in reading more about it from not only a supernatural and religious perspective but also just the subconscious connecting of events or sightings. Personal opinion is also welcome.

General Programming / Hosting/Listening to MP3 (disable downloading)
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:04:47 am »
What is a simple way to host an mp3 file for listening but hiding the filepath/disable downloading for the listener? I need to share a beat with a rapper but don't want him to be able to download it.

Please & Thanks!!

General Programming / Link Facebook Album to Website Slide Show?
« on: September 09, 2009, 06:44:40 pm »
First, where did the web dev forum go?

Here's what I want to do. I want a slide show of images on my website, but I want them to pool from Facebook (specifically a group album). Bonus points if tags remain in place. Is there anything out there that does this? The best I found on Google were things FOR facebook (i.e. posting slideshows on your profile.)

TIA.

Academic / School / linear-log graphs
« on: May 31, 2009, 12:23:53 pm »
Extra credit question that I'm not too sure about, maybe somebody can help out.

"If you wanted to find out whether two quantities x and y satisfy a relation given by y=pq^x     where p and q are constants, how would you be able to find p and q from your graph?"

You'd be using semi-log graph paper and the graph I suppose is linear-log. How do you find p and q graphically? Just pick points?

Just watch, I'm watching it now and don't want to explain.
