Freecycle is an organization dedicated to giving away free things. Basically, they have a mailing list you post to, and people can respond and either pick up the item or you deliver it to them (your choice). The idea is to avoid waste in the landfills and to give people free stuff.

Personally, I think it's a great idea! I'm moving next month, and I have all kinds of stuff I don't want to move (TVs, foosball table, stuff like that). I tried giving it away in my apartment, with no dice. Then I posted to Freecycle Winnipeg, and within 5 minutes I'd given away both TVs.

nice it is sort of like craigs list's free section.

Lol, sounds like you're the good person out of a huge bad pool of people looking to resell things.
It is good to be good, but it is better to be lucky.

I caught a news story on this a while ago.  Kind of a cool idea.  It'd be cool if there was a way to give it to the interested person who was most 'in need' of it, though.

So far, all the people who've picked things up from me (I've given away 4-5 things) have been either older couples or people with young kids (unless they volunteer totally false information, but I kind of doubt that -- they'd probably just say nothing).

Oh, that's pretty cool.
