Harry Plum, a fruit farmer from Georgia, was waging war against the blackbirs that were constantly sampling his cherry crop.  One day, Harry noticed that there are 16 blackbirds in his tree.  Determined to teach them a lesson, he got out his shotgun and blasted away at them.  Harry managed to his 3 birds, and blow them cleanly out of the tree.  How many birds are now left in the tree?
