Zorm's camera is better than you'll need for personal uses. However, he might be able to recommend something nice for you :p

Its a Canon Digital Rebel XT, with a 17-40mm f/4.0L lens (about $1500 worth of gear). So probably not what you are looking for, but its insanely nice and I have been very happy with it.

Check out http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php? and probably the Canon G-series forum. You can read what people are saying about them and go browse the picture forums to see if people are posting pictures taken with them.

Close, but no. Actually, not close. I just know that zorm loves taking pictures of weather, and have seen some of his pictures, and can tell photography quality when I look at it, and can tell it's not a run-of-the-mill camera, which is what CrAzeD described as what he wanted.
