The link to your motherboard and video card are the same one and I don't see an onboard video card in the specs.

Pretty good.  What's the total?  How about the case?  The fan and heatsink that come with that CPU (the quad core "version," anyway) sort of sucks.  It's really loud.

Make sure the motherboard is really good. The one thing I wish I would have done differently when I built this comp was spend a bit more money for a better motherboard.

Haha, that's probably pretty good advice for any of the components you listed, really.

I don't know how deeply you researched those components, but I think it's generally a good idea to Google the model numbers to see if anything turns up.  Getting Linux to work with my motherboard (Abit AB9 Quad) was a pain in the ass.

Already ordered Case/PSU for $75. The remaining "critical" things are at $700

Common mistake for first timers. For some reason, most people don't realize how important the mobo really is.

Case/PSU arrived today. Everything seemed intact. No major scratches on the plastic face but I don't plan on showcasing it.

I usually buy Asus motherboards. You might pay a little more, but it's worth it IMO.

Don't get me wrong, my motherboard has been sexy to me. The only part I don't like about my Asus a8n-vm csm mobo is that it is a micro... so I can only fit my wireless card, sound card, and video card on the pci slots, and I would like one for lan and one for tv. Oh well :)

Why do you need lan and wifi at the same time? Sure, it'd be nice not to have to open the case each time.

Also, why don't you have built in lan?

That's my motherboard, it has two Ethernet ports and a built-in wireless one.  I still think having wireless on a tower-PC is a little weird.

Apparently my motherboards Ethernet port is fried, and I didn't realize that for a while because I've always used wireless.

I avoid wireless whenever possible. I live in a large apartment complex, so there are about 50 wireless signals around here; needless to say, the wireless connection, even with line of site, sucks.
