Not anyone else but him chose to be a recovering alcoholic, let alone steal alcohol (which is insanely easy to legally buy). So if you ask me he's a total retard, he could at least have purchased some real liquor.

It was one of those malt beverages the liquor companies put out, they're next to the beer. Smirnoff Ice, Mikes Hard Lemonade, etc.
