For some reason, I can't seem to be able to resize my Vista partition.

I tried Partition Magic 8. That failed. That just gave me an error 110 or something.

I tried GParted. That failed. That also gave me an error.

I tried Vista's parition tool, Disk Management. That just greyed out the ability to resize my partition. I tried diskpart.exe from command and that failed too. It kept saying I didn't have enough space when I had plenty.

Help?

Which way are you resizing it? NTFS can only expand forward, iirc. If you try to expand backwards, it will fail.

Hope that helps.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I'm trying to shrink it to make room for Ubuntu 7.10. I'm goin' back.

Is this only for Vista? I remember shrinking XP NTFS.

You can shrink it. I thought you were trying to expand it. Just stating that Vista's partition cannot expand forward. It can shrink on the far end, and expand that way too.

Weird problem, though. Any way you can get some verbose information out of GParted?

This crap is taking forever. I'm using GParted. It got further this time around. Last time, it gave me an error 5 minutes in.

Hope it works.  :)

It's obviously because you're trying to install ubuntu.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Or maybe cause of Vista. Possibly. Maybe.

Anywho, I got it. Thanks for the help Newby :)

The possibility of this is very low.

But still a possibility, no?

lol, you're taking Warrior too seriously.  He's a Microsoft zealot.  He's jokingly saying that since you are having anything to do with something that's not Windows, the forces of nature are conspiring to keep your install from running smoothly.

Haha, I know.

We've had our WoW life, where I would totally verbally own him and his Warrior.  ;D
