Sorceress
« on: March 09, 2008, 03:44:06 pm »
I had absolutely no reason to paint this, but I loved the miniature so I went ahead and did her anyways. I'm extremely happy with how she turned out.

Here's a picture where you can see her whole staff:

And here's a bit of a close-up shot:

The problem with this miniature is that she originally came with a really stupid shirt that had her breasts sticking out, and the shirt wrapped around them. Besides the fact that I don't want nudity in my collection, it just plain looked stupid, so I filed down the chest a bit and sculpted/painted it to look like leather armour. Here is the sculpt I did (in green) before and after I primed it:

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Very nice job.  Everything except for the hair looks awesome, but that's the miniatures fault, not your painting.  :)
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

No, I didn't think to take a picture until it was too late.

I'm trying to remember where I bought it from, though, that would have pictures.

You gave her a boob job?

More of a re-clothing. I'm a tailor, not a surgeon. :P

It'd be neat if you were both. :)

Here's the original:

I guess it was supposed to be her shirt protruding, not her chest, but I still think it looks ridiculous. Mine's better. :)

Nah, I like the original.
Out of curiosity, why? The original was painted by a professional, and I'm still pretty new at this, so it isn't very surprising.

It's hard to tell their skill from the picture, since theirs is zoomed out a lot, but is it just the way the chest looks? Or is it the colour selection? Or something else?

I like the gold on brown of her outfit in the original. The green outfit of yours, along with the blond hair, makes me want to say "elf", which isn't necessarily bad. But I figure you were going for human, right?
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

She's technically a human, but I was imagining Druidic-type magic, so I chose primarily natural colours (green/brown).

I don't closely relate Druidism to Sorcery. :P

Well, I just put "Sorceress" because she's a female. Really, I call her a "female wizard", but I imagine her as being a nature-based one.

Really, I don't imagine Druids too much different from Wizards. :)
