I had a 2 yr warranty @ bestubuy, it expired FOUR MOTHER FUCKING GOD DAMN days ago.

I should've taken my laptop in last sat.  I think I've fried YET ANOTHER MOBO on a laptop (this means three are gone).

4 days ago.  $250 wasted on that plan + whatever I need to get a new mobo for my laptop.  god damn it.

stupid windows piece of shit.  apparently browsing + word processing + photoshop + dreamweaver is too intense for laptops.  jesus fucking chris man.  fuck.  what a god damned waste!!!

If the computer is a HP/Compaq, I have no sympathy at all.  Otherwise, now you know not to buy a computer from Best Buy (or any other B&M commercial retailer).

Laptops are typically given a 2-3 year lifespan anyway.  If that upsets you, get a desktop.

Or 5-year extended warranty.

Laptops are one of the places where getting the big warranty isn't a total scam.

Who offers a 5 year warranty on a laptop?

Best Buy did, when I bought mine. It's a Canadian branch, though, so the policies might be different.

I'm just curious, but why is Windows the stupid thing in this scenario?

He seems to think that Windows "burned out" his motherboard.

'cuz if he were running Lunicks it'd just run w/o a mobo since its so advanced.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Well they don't now, I had the chance to review their laptop warranty policies less than a month ago.

Probably smart of them, since odds are against them lasting 5 years.

I've bought 3 laptops from BB - one, an HP/AMD, burned out the mobo; the second, an HP Intel Pentium 4, lasted a good while and was a free replacement for the first (because it was under warranty).  The third was my Gateway tablet PC which I loved but just ultimately became impractical.  My most recent purchase was direct from Gateway; I got the same warranty and managed to talk them down an additional $300 because I was a student and I wanted to buy it on my credit card that only had a $1500 limit on it.  So I basically got the 4-hour battery and extra power adapter for free.

I've really liked my Gateway laptops, and their support is awesome (esp. compared to Dell).  My uncle's Dell notebook recently ran so hot that it cracked a big piece of glass on his desk.... $500 to replace the glass.  At least Dell's sending him a new laptop.  *shrug*

Not everyone can/wants to spend $1000 minimum on their laptop  :P
