Well, we all write on this forum. Does that count?

What type of writing and why do you want to know?
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

not science fiction.

I'll get to that after I've thought it out more.

I used to have a blog that my friend and I posted on.  It was almost entirely technical stuff, I think.  A few times my friend posted articles about finding jobs, etc. but most of them were monologues describing how we accomplished certain things.

Why do you ask?

I've a blog.  I'm working on finishing my first article when I get time.

I have a "blog" that functions primarily as a project portfolio and public resume site.  I do plan to add articles to it when my schedule becomes less crazy.

I'm swamped with macroecon homework right now but a project I have to do for it gave me an idea, after I finish that I'm going to think more about the idea when I have it more thought out I'll post it. Plus I don't know if it exists yet so I need to look into that too.

I don't think a blog with 0 posts really counts as a blog.. :P

I actually didn't think anymore about this, at least not in more detail, but here's the brief initial idea that I had.

Recognizing that many people now receive their news from blogs, and other social networking mediums, where oftentimes the stories are more complete (niche blogs writing about what they're passionate about) why not have a "newspaper" which is essentially a collection of freelance blog articles. Bloggers currently write for free, so there would not be a cost associated with the majority of the news articles written (except perhaps a link back to their home blog.)

In my mind's eye this would allow for a seemingly endless ability to cover all sorts of stories, covering any sort of niche. It'd be pretty much the reader's paper: Of the people and for the people.

To keep it neutral a bias voting system could be implemented where needed (ala FairSpin.org) although articles wouldn't only pertain to politics.

Thoughts?
