You better, this weekend is Oktoberfest.

Yeah, and that's a really important event.  ::)

More importantly, this weekend is Thanksgiving!

Yup. You coming into the city, Ron?

Our dorm refrigerator stopped working so I have to drive an hour or so to get a new one because there isn't a Lowes here (but one is being built 5 minutes away) where I can exchange it. I'm waiting on a phone call back from customer service now.

Plus I have a 4 page paper due by 5pm, and it's 1 now.

Hey now!  That's 1/4 of my heritage you're rolling your eyes about.  And since I drink a lot and love the beer, I'll make that 1 & 1/4 of my heritage you're mocking! >:(

Why do Americans insist on having thanksgiving so close to Christmas? It just doesn't make sense.

Nope. I'm moving back at the end of the month, so there's no point.

It does when that's when you have Thanksgiving ::)

Why do you have it so close to Halloween?

Halloween isn't a holiday. Having a holiday in both October and November is nice. :)

Starting a highly physical job after years of inactivity = painful. Working in receiving my job pretty much consists of moving boxes off the truck, opening the boxes, putting stuff on the racks, and taking it out to the floor. I started working yesterday, and got there just in time to help unload over 400 boxes from a truck, playing a real life tetris game of sorts stacking all those packages in the tiny area we had. Today I put the alarm tag things on like 15 racks of coats. It's boring and tedious, but it's actually pretty relaxing. The people that work there are pretty cool, even though only 2 of them speak good english. One of them is a midget with down syndrome lolol

Sounds like you'll fit in perfectly!

Make sure you don't twist if you lift something heavy, and of course, lift with your legs and not your back. You really don't want to screw up your back, it's incredibly painful. Your habits when you're young make a big difference when you get older.

I am the own who unloads trucks at my work when they arrive on Monday and Wednesday nights and on Saturday morning.  You get used to it and if you're doing it right, it's pretty easy and not very painful.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

I started jogging last week, and it should have killed me. I was incredibly lazy over the summer, so I was expecting to die after a few blocks. I plan to start swimming on Thursday, and do that Tuesday and Thursday. I kind of screwed up by not doing a few lab reports, so I couldn't go swimming today like I had wanted.  :-\
errr... something like that...

For the most part there isn't anything that weighs more than 20-30 pounds, even the boxes that are huge. The place I work at mostly sells clothes, so it's not that bad. It is still really tiring though.

Yeah, it's not bad. We get big shipments monday, wednesday and friday. Taking stuff off the trucks is actually less annoying than the less strenuous stuff because at least I'm walking around, rather than just standing there, usually bending over constantly to pick stuff up and put it on a rack or whatever.
